SDAV Hot Rods History

This Club has been involved in Speedway racing for over 40 years and there have been many changes along the way. Speedway has grown in popularity as it gets passed onto each generation of people involved.

Over the years, this club has hosted many drivers that have won multiple State and Australian championship titles and some are still racing in this class today.

The range of current drivers competing at the club have a wide spread of age and experience, some having raced in other forms of speedway in the past, then moving into Hotrods, some of the young are extremely keen to develop their driving skills. The combination of the different drivers makes for a good racing environment as the young bring a new level of competitive spirit and enthusiasm that helps drive the more experienced ones to try harder each race meeting.

There was a driver at the club who raced for fifty years in speedway and rarely missed a race meeting, a great competitor and a true legend of this club, having won many races and titles along the way Ray Welsh and his yellow 75 Hot Rod.
