SDAV HOT RODS

These Hot Rods have been involved in Speedway racing for over 40 years and represented the Speedway Drivers Association of Victoria (SDAV) and has continually evolved as an exciting class of motor racing.

There has been some very successful racing drivers who had their roots in this Hot Rod class while developing their skills, like Ray ‘Nippa’ Lacey and Graeme McCubbin, who later progressed into Sprintcars.

The club has got some fascinating history over its early years especially when there was about thirty Rods competing on the track at a race meeting and drivers had to qualify to run in the finals. After a period of lean times the Club is now growing in numbers to its previous glory as the premier Hod Rod class in Victoria and has about fifteen Rods at the moment, so this is an exciting time at the club.
An increasing number of young drivers are being attracted to this class as it offers an affordable entry level into this high speed action packed open wheeled dirt track racing.

This progressive club has been adapting its rules to allow more readily available parts to be used so that it is easier for people to build new Rods for the class. Most items allowed are Sprintcar components, wheels, tyres, axles, suspension, steering and even some chassis can be adapted to meet the clubs specifications.
This all adds up to some very impressive machinery running around the race tracks of country Victoria.
