Speedway Power Couple Kali Hovey and Shannon Meakins are set to tie the knot this Saturday.
This power couple share over 1.000 horsepower most Saturday nights across Summer, racing their SDAV Hot Rods side by side on Victorian speedways.
Neither driver will concede an inch as both are pure and true racers at heart.
The Victorian Speedway community will gather at the Pier in Geelong to witness this blessed occasion.
SDAV President Phil Jenkins speaking on behalf of the SDAV Community, "We have all witnessed this lovely young couple grow closer, and been privileged to share many wonderful occasions during their courtship. We wish our Kali and Shan a beautiful life together."

SDAV President Phil Jenkins has been encouraged by the increased interest expressed by promoters keen to host the ground thumping SDAV Hotrods in the forthcoming season.
Jenkins plans to present the calendar at the AGM, scheduled for Tuesday 11th June at the Werribee RSL.
Any tracks, keen to host a round of the Thunder Downunder series in 2013/14 who are yet to contact Jenkins, are encouraed to SDAV Headquarters as soon as possible.

SDAV Chief Scrutineer Darryl Whitlow has again proven himself to be quite an artist.
Whitlow was the person responsible for the production of the place mats adorning the tables at last weekends Presentation Gala.
Whitlow successfully merged images of all race cars into a range of collages scattered throughout the room.
The place mats are prized momentos of the occasion with guests scrambling for possesion for a copy prior to departure.
This is just another hidden talent of the man affectionately known as "Chief Darryl."
I only wish I had been there to see them Chief!!

SDAV President Phil Jenkins, reminds teams that the 2013 SDAV AGM is being held on Tuesday 11th June, 2013 at the Werribee RSL, Synnot Street Werribee, commencing at 8pm.
As all positions are open for applications, written nominations are to be received by the SDAV Secretary no later than 4th June, 2013.
As always, a pre meeting dinner will be held at the RSL from about 6.30pm. Candidates standing for election this year, may wish to use this dinner to explain why they consider themselves the best candidates in the ballot.

Geelong’s Gateway International Hotel hosted the 2013 SDAV Presentation Dinner on Saturday 18th May.
A full house packed the venue to witness the crowning of the Club Champion and presentation of other awards.
MC, Glenny Lawless, who stood in for Scoop at short notice, joined SDAV President Phil Jenkins on stage for the announcements, as follows;
Allen Luckett was crowned Club Champion, followed by Shannon Meakins and Dean West.
Allen Luckett also took out the Thunder Downunder series ahead of Kali Hovey and Dean West.
Best Presented Car was awarded to Dean West. Most Improved Driver was awarded to Shannon Meakins. Dylan Lineham was awarded the Encouragement Aaward. Jason Kavanagh won the Legends Cup, Victorian Title and Ray Welsh Memorial. Kali Hovey received the Club Person Award.
The raffles and auctions raised a further $3,000 on the night, with several bidders keen to take home one of the coveted items sponsored by the Stavropolous Family.
The club would like to thanks trophy sponsors including, Parr Motorsports, Hovey’s Transport, Wally's Design and Fabrications, FMG.au.com, Allsport trophies, Mega Autoparts, the Welsh Family, P&S Automotive, Donnas Hair Studio, Ace Timber and Fencing, Lumber Softwoods, Clearglass Solutions, Nastasi Racing, Dandy Bolts, and ACB Group.
After a fabulous three course dinner, award ceremony, and highlight package projected onto a large screen, courteousy of Kali Hovey, , it was time to hit the dance floor with the Absloutely 80's show band featuring artists including Brian Mannix
Mannix was clearly enjoying the evening as he was photographed drinking from his SDAV Stubby Holder.
As dawn broke and the sun began to rise, the last of the revellers were seen wandering back to their rooms, season 2012/13 had officially ended. Once again the SDAV proved how much they love to party.
I only wish I could have been there.

Veteran Corio Racer Russ Hovey, had another successful night by taking home the Redline Raceway track Championship held last Saturday night.
Driving his Ford Powered Rod, Russ showed a clear pair of Hoosiers to the rest of the field who struggled to keep pace with Russ.
Heat One was won by Allen Luckett, from Shan Meakins and Kali Hovey.
Heat Two was one by Russ Hovey followed by Shan Meakins and Kali Hovey third.
The final was taken out by the inform Hovey, followed by a hard changing Meakins, Kali Hovey, Glenn Hollywood Lawless and Dylan Linehan.
On commenting about his second Feature win for the season, Hovey explained,"We have been developing this new chassis and engine package all season, and it is now proving itself to perform as we had anticipated. I would like to thank chassis and engine builders Eddie and Matt for giving me a great car. I would also like to congratulate the other drivers and Mick and team from Redline Raceway for staging another successful meeting. With the car performing so well, I can't wait for next season."

As the President and CEO of Scoop Motorsport Multi Media, I am often required to travel the world to cover "The Big Events" in World Motorsport. As many of you know, this often means I am unable to attend the SDAV Presentation Dinner.
Regrettably, I must inform that once again, a major intrernational assignment requires me to be in North America on the night of the dinner.
May I take this opportunity to wish all drivers every success on the night as the SDAV recognises and awards drivers and teams for their achievements.
My first o/s assignment will be to cover the V8 Supercar event in Austin Texas, before heading to the "Big One" the World BathTub Championships, held in Nanaimo British Colombia Canada.
So, til I return downunder, Lets go "Thump some Tubs."

SDAV President Phil Jenkins advises all members that an Extrra ordinary meeting has been called to meet the WA expansion manager to discuss his abyssmal performance over the past two seasons.
Jenkins is quick to point out that not one new track nor driver has been recruited from WA. The SDAV are now reviewing the WA office and considerable investment made for the expansion.
It is understood, the WA Manager may attempt to attend the Presentation Gala, however this is unlikely to influence the Committee's decision about his tenure.

As the sunset over Redline Raceway on Saturday, Kali Hovey had achieved a remarkable milestone in her racing career, few racers will ever achieve.
The records show, Kali, has not missed a single meeting for the passed decade. For the passed 10 years, Kali has competed at every single race meeting on the SDAV Calendar for the past 10 summers.
Kali, on behalf of the entire SDAV Community, we congratulate you on this remarkable achievement and recognise your commitment to flying the SDAV flag.
When asked on Saturday after the final at Redline on Saturday night, for her highlights of the past decade, Kali explained,"So many, but right now I would have to say, racing tonight wheel to wheel with my dad is pretty special, we had a ball tionight, and then when he won his second final this season, it really doesn't get much better."
Well done Kali.

We are noticing that such is the care and concern of some teams, that they have extended mothers day into a weekend and are unable to get a leave pass to race.
We wish all drivers from the greater Maryknoll area a very happy mothers day along with their partners.

SDAV President Phil Jenkins is pleased with the number of invitations from Promoters wishing to host the SDAV HotRods during season 2013/14.
With the title set to be run at picturesque Alexandra Speedway, we anticipate a pre title round to be staged at Alex in addition to the title.
We have also been contacted by a number of clubs with dates, and I am pleased to advise that our calendar is filling fast.
I encouraged all promoters, if you are yet to do so, to contact SDAV Headquaters to arrange dates, asap.

The crew from SDAV Team 99, are unsure if they will be able to race at Redline Raceway this Saturday.
The team and transporter have commitments at Melbourne's Comedy Theatre nightly for a five week block. Unless alternate arrangements can be made, they are unlikely to attend.
The team is said to be in negotiations with Theatre Producers to find out, who on Saturday 11th May, will be "Driving Miss Daisy." Lets hope it's Glenny and Wally who will be driving team transporter "Miss Daisy" to Redline.
